What a fun book! As I was reading, I often got lost in the moment. The author did such a great job of writing from the rat's perspective. There were moments where I laughed so hard my husband wanted me read him the excerpt. There were other times I cried and had to share what just happened. The characters and their plight compelled me to turn the page to find out what will happen next. In fact, I was so sad when the kindle said I was 94% done with the book, I didn't want the story to end. I really would love to point out some of my favorite parts but then that would required spoiler alerts. Owning rat's myself, made me want to read the book. If you have ever bought a pet at a pet store you will enjoy reading this book. If you have ever rescued a pet, you will enjoy reading this book. If you are a parent, this is a great book to read aloud with your younger children. There is a lot of action, while also teaching great morals of how to treat others. It also has so many facts about rats cleverly inserted within the story. I do not think owning rats is a prerequisite to read this book, but if you do own them, you HAVE to read this!
We went to our second rat show this weekend, Ratapalooza in Seattle. Being members RatsPacNW, a great group of people, gave us the chance to participate even though we didn't have any precious ratties to show. There was face painting and games for the kids. The rescues at the show were swamped with adopters the WHOLE day. They also had great informative talks and of course the fun pet show!
We were at the entrance selling ADORABLE T-shirts. They were a great price $20. We ended up buying their logo for Ratapalooza T-shirts for $15 AND we had to grab one of their $5 shirts.
We also helped out with the raffle. Talk about a great fun! Some people took a chance and bought just one ticket but many bought their 6 tickets for $5. (think one lady spent over $50 on tickets - for just one adorable handmade rat) I wish I had taken a picture of the fun raffles (at Come Fall for Rats in November I am going to put in a whole set of Hammocks and Snuggies) I was so excited to see a signed copy of the new book Petey the One-Eyed Rat was on the table! We also went to our FAVORITE table at the show nEVEr-mor and suggested they donate something for the raffle AND THEY DID!! Talk about talented ladies. Their creations were amazing and addictive according to several people that had purchased in the past and were buying more sweet figures. I do hope they will be coming to the show in the Fall 2016! Below are just some of the pictures I took of their mischief.
We hung out at the show, waiting till the last drawing happened. Our friend that was with us and had entered for the book. However so had many others. Guess what? Yup you guessed it. She won! She was so excited and even got the author to personalize the front to her <3. Kim was awesome! I highly recommend the book. It is also available for the kindle!!!! I just found that out today. Off to share the great news in some of the facebook groups.
Our Crazy Rat Adventure Blog is small glimpse into our little menagerie. We never intended to, but we ended helping others fall in love with the little vermin.
